BRTP Takes Position in Advocate Today 4 20 2012

How Could The CATS Tax Destroy the Homestead Exemption?

BRTP Announces Position on CATS TAX 4 4 2012

Attention Baton Rouge Tea Party Members, and Taxpayers in East Baton Rouge Area: The Baton Rouge Tea Party has gone on Record as questioning the legal authority for the new 10.6 mills 2012 CATS tax as a Municipal Tax, which will now be charged on 100% of the value the homes of those who will pay the tax in Baton Rouge and Baker.                       (see link above and to the left).

After tens of hours of discussions with over 25 people in virtually every sector of government that touches taxes in EBR parish, and in the State of Louisiana, we have found no one who can give a simple explanation of what statute, law or constitutional act authorizes the CATS tax in its current form. (See Links above and to the left.)  Now that the tax has passed, the Baton Rouge Tea Party is working to determine if they will mount a legal challenge to the tax based on the premises that are outlined in the analysis we have done in the last few weeks. So: Please help us, if you are interested in the Rule of Law, and the Homestead Exemption: 1. If you are a legal expert, or have legal training we could use your help. (bold here....please call or write: treasurer@batonrougeteaparty.com pslillard@juno.com or info@batonrougeteaparty.net) Tel 225 892 9336  2. If you support what we are doing, we could use your monetary support for ALL the projects we are working on (see donate here to the left, or send the check to the p.o. box):  a. The CATS tax issue b. The Sewer Project c. The State Education Reform Agenda d. Agenda 21 e. Smart Meters f. TIF Areas  3. Finally, we could use some of your TIME to help us explore and educate everyone on these important topics that affect us all. Please call or write us....we look forward to your enthusiasm and passion for liberty.  PS   all contributions go to the cause....none of the board members get paid any money for what we do, ever.

DHS SET UP ARMED CKPT AT FL SS OFFICE  READ ATTACHED ARTICLE IN FULL!
It's not just your grandfather's airport anymore.

This week, DHS (federal officers) set up a random, armed checkpoint at a FLORIDA SOCIAL SECURITY OFFICE.  Article has pix.   Officers armed with auto weapons and dogs.

No warning to Soc Sec employees at that office.

No comments, no explanation when questioned.

Fed's plan 9,000+ "random checkpoints" in 2012.

Meanwhile, over 10 years, there is not one instance of DHS's airport fondlers foiling any terrorist attack anywhere.

This is clearly a prelude to martial law by a government afraid of its citizens.

 In My Opinion:

  • KEYSTONE CLOCK IS TICKING: After three years of reviews, reports, and delays, how much longer will he keep the American people waiting for a decision on the job-creating Keystone XL energy pipeline? [VIEW THE KEYSTONE CLOCK]
  • THE BYSTANDER PRESIDENT: Instead of working with lawmakers to create a better environment for private-sector job growth, the White House admitted it has no serious legislative agenda, saying President Obama's “election-year strategy” is to “travel the country” in 2012 while “attacking Congress.” [READ MORE]
  • UNPRECEDENTED: Speaker Boehner called President Obama's “recess” appointment (when the Senate was not in recess) an “extraordinary and entirely unprecedented power grab,” and noted the position “had not been filled for one reason: the agency it heads is bad for jobs and bad for the economy.” [READ MORE]
